This month, our teachers share what personally speaks to them. Gabby My favorite way to practice yoga is through vinyasa. I love how the breath seamlessly weaves into each movement, transforming the flow into a moving meditation. Every practice, I find my mind growing quiet, my body softening, and my heart opening. What I appreciate most about vinyasa is how it meets me exactly where I am, whether I’m seeking strength, release, or stillness, and always guides me back to a deeper connection with myself.

Pang I love practicing power vinyasa because it's really where strength meets flow. It challenges my body with intensity while grounding my mind through breath and movement - leaving me sweaty, centered, and recharged wanting more. Every practice feels like a gift, a gift of moving meditation - equal parts discipline, release, and empowerment. Natalie Lately I’ve been going into my backyard and rolling my mat out on the back patio in the sunshine. I start with stillness, bringing awareness to the breath, and connecting my body to the energies of earth and sky. I often start low to the ground.Movement begins intuitively, linking the breath. I rest when I want. Have sips of coffee. I do what feels good when it feels good to do it. Sometimes what feels good is silence, meditation, nidra… sometimes it is an active and strong asana practice, shedding heaviness and stagnancy. Alignment lives at the top of the sin curve, punctuating a vinyasa sequence at the peak of the wave - then rising and cresting into another new cycle of breath. Bringing breathwork, mudra, drishti, and bandhas elevates a regular practice to a ritual healing cleanse. When the body’s energetic and physical sheaths align, channels clear and allow the energies of earth and sky to converge and commingle within. The Earth holds me in her strength and the sky charges me with her light. Yoga=Union.

Beth My favorite type of yoga to teach has evolved over the years! I used to be 100% an ashtanga vinyasa/power girlie, but in recent years, my interests have shifted. While I still love to teach a strong power or vinyasa, I am very interested in the interplay of sympathetic and parasympathetic activation of the nervous system as one travels through their practice experience. All that to say, I love to teach in a way that empowers each student to honor their personal context to their practice while still offering challenges to the cardiovascular system and body. What is beautiful to me is that yoga can meet you where you are at individually. Above all, I love to teach in a way that gives students permission to take what they need or want, and leave the rest. As the beautiful Mel Marie says, "Yoga does what yoga does," and the power is in the practice, not the shapes in and of themselves. :) Apart from asana, my recent hyperfixations in yoga are the koshas and chakras...the energetic body. :) AK My favorite way to practice yoga is in community with my yoga homies. There’s something so special about moving, breathing, sharing energy alongside friends and strangers alike.
